THE BEGINNING OF A DEVASTATING STORM SEASON

Following Typhoon Noul in September 2020, this piece of driftwood was found along the coast of An Bang Beach, Hoi An.

Noul: Typhoon No. 5 of 2020 – marked the beginning of an exceptionally severe period of storms and floods across Central Vietnam.

But Noul was only the beginning.

Between September and November 2020, Central Vietnam was repeatedly affected by tropical storms, typhoons, extreme rainfall, floods and landslides.

It would become one of the region’s most devastating disaster seasons in recent memory.
