A TRACE OF A HISTORIC FLOOD

Following the influence of Typhoon Fengshen and the exceptional rainfall of late October 2025, this piece of driftwood was found along the Hoi An–Quang Nam coastline.

Fengshen Typhoon No. 12 of 2025 – affected the central region with strong winds, rough seas and heavy rainfall.

Along the coast, high waves and storm conditions caused severe erosion in parts of An Bang Beach.

In the days that followed, exceptionally heavy rainfall continued across the Vu Gia–Thu Bon river basin, causing rivers to rise dramatically and resulting in a major flood across the region.

The storm and the flood that followed became another chapter in the long relationship between the people of Central Vietnam, its rivers and the sea.
