A TRACE AFTER THE FLOODS

Following Typhoon Rai and the heavy rains of September 2016, this piece of driftwood was found along the coast of Dien Ngoc, Quang Nam.

As the storm affected Central Vietnam, its circulation brought widespread heavy rainfall. Rivers and streams rose rapidly, increasing the risk of flooding and landslides across mountainous areas.

In a landscape where rivers descend from the mountains, cross the plains and eventually meet the sea, every major rainy season leaves its own traces upon the land.

  • International name: Rai
